How Often to Post, Realistically

The right frequency is not a universal number: it depends on what you can sustain without lowering quality.

5 min read

The question always arrives in the same shape: how many times a week should we post. The honest answer is that no single number works for everyone, and anyone who states one is describing their own case.

The real constraint is production

A sustainable frequency is the one you can hold for three months without lowering quality and without stopping. Five posts a week for ten days, then silence, is worth less than two posts a week for a year.

How to find your number

  • Count the hours a week you can genuinely give to production, not the hours you would like to.
  • Measure how long one piece you're happy with takes, from idea to publication.
  • Divide: that is your ceiling. Then take twenty per cent off, because difficult weeks exist.
  • Fix that number and leave it alone for three months, so the data becomes readable.

Why consistency beats volume

A profile that posts a little but regularly builds a habit in its audience and a prediction in the platform. A profile that alternates bursts and months of silence restarts from zero every time, because the audience has stopped expecting anything.

When to raise the frequency

Only after stabilising the current one, and only if quality holds. The sign that you have gone too far is clear: average retention starts to fall and the posts begin to look alike.

Two posts a week for a year beat ten a week for a month followed by silence.
