Restricted Account or Removed Post: What to Do and What to Prepare First

Restrictions arrive without warning and appeals are slow. What you need to have ready beforehand.

6 min read

Sooner or later it happens: a post removed, reach collapsing with no explanation, sometimes access suspended. Appeal procedures exist but they are slow and automated. The difference between an annoyance and real damage is almost always what had been prepared beforehand.

What to prepare now

  • A list of published content with dates, kept outside the platform.
  • The original photo and video files: if the profile is blocked, those are still yours.
  • A way to reach customers that doesn't run through social: newsletter, contact list, website.
  • Administrative access on at least two people, with two-factor authentication enabled.

When the restriction arrives

Read the notice in full and find the cited rule in the platform's official guidelines. Appeals work better when they answer the specific claim, rather than explaining that a mistake has been made.

The avoidable common causes

Music used without commercial rights, claims about health or earnings, identical content republished in bursts, and links to pages the platform considers untrustworthy. None of these requires intent: they happen through carelessness.

What not to do

Open a second profile to get around a restriction. In almost every case it worsens your position and puts the new account at risk too.

A social profile is rented. Build the audience there, but keep the contacts somewhere that stays yours.
